Welcome to SFOG

The Swedish Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology (SFOG) is a professional organization within the Swedish Society of Medicine and the Swedish Medical Association.

All doctors with an interest in the field of obstetrics and gynecology are welcome as members; doctors under specialist training, specialists, practitioners, hospital staff as well as scientists. The Society has around 1850 members.

The SFOG has several aims. It aims to foster high standards of care in obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive health. It also aims to look after the professional interests of its members.

The SFOG is involved in education on many levels. These include student training, courses during specialist training, education for specialists, conferences as well as national, nordic and international congresses.

The Society has numbers of working groups dealing with different areas within the specialty. These include perinatology, family planning, urogynecology, endoscopy, infections, adolescence, cervical screening, psychosocial problems, climacteric problems, breasts, infertility, sonography, tumor surgery, vulvar diseases, hemostasis, endometriosis and evidence based ob-gyn. The groups document their work and recommendations in widely distributed reports in Swedish (ARG rapport).

SFOG is a part of the Nordic Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology (NFOG). It is also a member of Federation Internationale de Gynecologie et d’Obstetrique (FIGO), Union Européenne des Médecins Spécialistes (UEMS), the European Board and College of Obstetricans and Gynecologists (EBCOG) and the International Federation of Fertility Societies (IFFS).

The secretariat of the Society is situated in the city of Stockholm.
